Durga D. Poudel, Ph.D. Durga Dutta Poudel : Dr. Poudel started his tenure at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, USA, in 2000, where he is an Associate Professor of Soil Science. He is also SLEMCO/BOR Professor in Applied Life Sciences, Adjunct Professor in Geology, and Director of Agriculture Auxiliary Units at the University of Lousiana at Lafayette. Prior to this he worked at the University of California, Davis, and Asian Vegetable Research and Development Centre in Taiwan. Recipients of many awards and fellowships, Dr Poudel completed his B.Sc. from Pakistan in 1988, M.Sc. from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in 1991, and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, USA in 1998. His research interests are in natural resources management and environmental quality, with specialization in soil, water, organic farming, and sustainable agriculture. Years of his research and his own rural upbringing in Nepal has led him to be a firm believer in co-operative mode of sustainable agriculture, environment, and economic development.
