Faruq has over fifteen years experience in journalism, media relations, communications and international development in Asia, Central America, Europe and North America. He has worked in sustainable development, capacity development, knowledge management and social marketing for United Nations agencies, international NGOs and the governments of Bangladesh and Canada.
Faruq’s regional expertise in institutional development has spanned the globe, including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Honduras and Guatemala. As an expert in South Asia, Faruq helps forge partnerships with multilateral organizations in the region, particularly India.
Faruq holds a Master’s degree from the Dhaka University in Bangladesh, and has completed postgraduate studies in journalism and sociology at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom and Oslo University in Norway.
