Jonathan Laine : Mr. Laine began his university studies at Queens University in Kingston, after which he spent 10 years in the private sector managing a small manufacturing firm. He returned to Trent University in eterborough, Ontario,receiving a degree in international development, and thereafter entered Canada’s Foreign Service with the Department of Foreign Affairs. After an initial positing in Lima Peru, Mr. Laine transferred to the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), where he has remained for the past 18 years. His programming experience there includes extensive work with Canadian NGOs and country programming in South Africa, as well as an 8 year period in CIDA’s Middle East program. That period included three years as CIDA’s Head of Aid in the West Bak (Palestine) as well as a secondment back to the Department of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Laine is currently the Country Program Manager CIDA’s bilateral program in Nepal, India and Bhutan.
