Athabasca University Donates Twenty Laptop Computers for Initiative for Open University of Nepal

26 August, Edmonton, Alberta: Athabasca University donated twenty (20) laptop computers to NRN-Canada in support of the Initiative for Open University of Nepal (OUN) in Edmonton. The OUN Initiative is a joint effort between NRNA, NRN-Canada, Canada Foundation For Nepal (CFFN), Government of Nepal and Athabasca University to establish an Open University in Nepal.

Dr. Mohamed Ally, Professor and Director of Center for Distance Education, Athabasca University handed over the laptop computers to NRN-Canada officers at the premises of Athabasca University learning center in Edmonton. NRN-Canada President Dr. Binod KC, Nepalese Canadian Society of Edmonton (NECASE) President Mr. Mohanath Acharya, NECASE General Secretary and NRN-Canada National Coordination Council Member (NCC), Mr. Naba Raj Adhikari, NECASE Advisor Mr. Rameshwar Adhikari, and NECASE and NRN-Canada volunteer Mr. Suresh Joshee were present at the handover of the laptop computers.

NRN Canada will now organize to send these laptop computers to OUN Initiative office in Kathmandu, Nepal for OUN pilot programs. NRN-Canada International Co-ordination Council Member and OUN member-secretary Dr. Pramod Dhakal will receive these laptop computers in Nepal. NRN Canada will also approach the Nepali Embassy in Ottawa regarding the transportation of the computers to Nepal.NRN Canada President Dr. KC thanked Dr. Ally and the Athabasca University for the generous support to OUN and he also thanked all NECASE members who took time off to come for this handover.
